STUDENT MINISTRIES

Middle and High School are formative times for all of us. Studies have shown that these are often the most important years for getting a solid foundation in our Christian walk, and the challenges facing students who want to follow Jesus are increasing constantly. To help encourage and support students, we offer the following opportunities:

Youth Series

"Talking Money"

For our last series of studies this season, Duane Pfaff will lead discussions with students around money for the first four Wednesdays in May. Besides being our church chair, Duane is a CPA with a passion for helping adults and youth have a healthy, biblical understanding of money and how to use it wisely.

WEDNESDAY YOUTH GROUP

6:30-8:00PM I SEPTEMBER THROUGH MAY

Our typical Wednesday youth group includes gym or outdoor game time, worship, teaching, and small groups. Recent teaching series have included looks at mental health concerns like anxiety, worry, and stress and how to deal with them; how to share our faith; and Christian sexuality. Some teachings have been done by a pastor, some by an outside speaker, and some using high-quality video presentations.

CONFIRMATION

SUNDAYS MORNINGS 9:00-10:00AM I SEPTEMBER THROUGH MAY

Confirmation studies are a unique time for 7th and 8th grade students to dive deep into Scripture, Church History, and personal discipleship. For students who have already made a personal commitment to Christ, it’s an opportunity to grow in their faith. For those who have not decided about Jesus yet, it’s an opportunity to consider following him themselves.

UNITE 2024 - FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

JULY 14-19, 2024

BOWLING GREEN UNIVERSITY

FOR STUDENTS ENTERING 9TH GRADE - SENIORS GRADUATING IN 2024.

A transformative five-day event filled with powerful worship, engaging youth group sessions, heartfelt prayer, exhilarating afternoon activities, and meaningful acts of service.

    • We will leave from MGCC after worship on Sunday, July 14 and drive to Bartlett, IL (one of the Northwest suburbs of Chicago) where we'll have supper and stay overnight. This will allow us to leave at a reasonable time on Sunday, allow for the opening check-in time on Monday, and allow us to get a bit of sleep along the way.
    • We'll finish the drive to Bowling Green, OH Monday morning for check-in in the early afternoon.
    • We'll depart Bowling Green at Noon on Friday, July 19, and return to MGCC late that evening.
  • We expect the total cost per student to be approximately $700, including registration and transportation. This is based on all our students registering prior to May 1. Here are a few more details on that:

    • Each student will be responsible for a non-refundable registration deposit of $170.
    • Our Women's ministry leaders have identified fundraising opportunities. Our hope is that these will provide the bulk of the remaining funds which we need for the trip.
    • Any final balance beyond the deposit and fundraising proceeds will be due to MGCC by June 15 so that we can make our final payment to UNITE prior to June 24.
  • Registration will include two parts or steps.

    • Students will sign up for UNITE and make any and all payments through MGCC—NOT through the UNITE Website. We will have the links for that on our own MGCC media platforms.
    • After signing-up through MGCC, you will be contacted by UNITE organizers through Brushfire for further details (insurance information, medical release, etc.).
  • Several adults have indicated an interest in going to UNITE. We hope to have those details finalized soon.
